Seraching in SS3 Petaling Jaya for a Home

So we finally determined a Home was going to be somewhere in SS3.

Wifey clearly was still suffering from rejections of the perfect home she loved in Section 11.

But oh well, we had to make a clear and wiser decision that will effect both of us positively for the future. No leasehold crap. SS3 was all Freehold as well which was a good thing.

It was around Feb or March of 2016 that we were looking more seriously at places in SS3, and marked out a couple of roads that we wanted to look at as a desired place for our home.

A house popped up that was being offered for 1.55. It had a land area of 2,800 square feet with a built up of 3000 square feet.

With a high incline for the driveway, 2800 glorious square feet, bathrooms that looked like the walls were not washed since the first world war, an asking price of 1.55 was just not justifiable. 

Being a little hasty, we showed interest. Because the road was a good road with very decent looking houses.

However it was just way to shitty and a lot of work. A counter offer was made to the lady of the house at 1.26.

Yes its a double storey and has 3000 square feet for its built up space, but its not made out of fucking gold. Neither will it add any fucking value to our lives based on what it stands as.

I was not low balling at all, It required a lot of work. Even a brush up would have costed 80k.

So turns out, SS3 people although more of a senior crowd, actually still believe they have the holding power to sit and wait till kingdom comes to get offered the right price before moving out.

The owners words were "I am still willing to wait for the right price"

Alright, hold on to it then. Hold on to it like your life depends on it. That doesnt make me feel like this opportunity is a loss to such a "good investment, strategic location, high ROI, freehold, high demand" bullshit that agents try selling you with. Because bitch, I grew up in SS3, not you fucking agents so dont school me.

Am not that stupid. Forget it. This home was first put on the market at 1.45 in 2014. Still hasnt shifted in 2017. At one point it went to a greedy 1.6 as well. It should have just been advertised at 2 million instead to draw away anyone who doesnt want to waste time.

Clearly the agents and owners are looking for dogs wagging their tongues to pick this piece of property up like it was the hottest fucking steak in town, but not me.

I dont believe in going back and forth with negotiations as well. It wastes time. Thats meant for lowyatt folks online. Fuck them.

Well these are people by the way who were baby boomers or really old folks who have nothing much more to gain in life but wasting time.

But we really liked this road. So we didnt stop there. We thought since nothing is being advertised, let us advertise instead.

We drafted out a form that looks like this :



Posting this letter in ss3 residences letter boxes. What would you do if you loved this neighborhood so much ? Yes I kick myself in the arse now, but I'm glad that this was a part of my life's journey.

So wifey and I walked a couple of roads we liked, on a Sunday, and wrote our offer and posted these in mail boxes of other homes we liked, hoping to receive an answer if they might be interested in selling.

We received 2 answers out of the 30 postings or so, both thanking us, but will not be selling their home, they were not keen on selling. All except that shitty house above.

At least we were reaching out rather than having to wait. We got answers immediately be it no answers or even the ones rejected. We were now not going to waste any more time.

We knew that an opportunity on these roads we liked, were not going to fall in our laps this time.

Soon, things would change, and we would find our Home. More of this in the next topic.
